Triestine Hospitality with Passion: The Soul of Maison Juliet Trieste

Behind the Scenes: Massimo’s Story

Hi, I’m Massimo Werner. I was born and raised among the windswept streets of Trieste, and I carry the history of this border city in my heart. With a background as a tour guide and a career in real estate, I decided to create Maison Juliet Trieste to offer travelers more than just a bed—I wanted to provide an authentic experience.

This property is more than just a vacation rental; it is the result of my desire to share "my" Trieste. I chose this 1878 building because I immediately felt its historical resonance, and I restored it to preserve its soul while adding the modern comforts every traveler deserves.

Live Trieste Like a "Local"

Maison Juliet Trieste reflects my personal philosophy of travel: discovery, comfort, and a touch of bohemian spirit. Staying here means experiencing the city surrounded by beauty and the peaceful silence of a private inner courtyard.

But the real added value is what happens outside your door. I love sharing "insider" tips with my guests—from the hidden corners and the best "osmize" (traditional farmhouses) on the Karst plateau...

...to the best table for reading a book or a newspaper at the historic Caffè San Marco.

I am at your full disposal to point out the best trail to admire the sunset over the sea...

...or the authentic restaurants where true Triestini go to eat.

Discover the Wonders of Trieste: Your Adventure Starts Here

Trieste is a city of layers, where Roman ruins sit beside Hapsburg palaces. By staying at Maison Juliet Trieste, you are perfectly positioned to explore these treasures:

San Giusto Cathedral and Castle: Explore the city's medieval heart and enjoy the most iconic panoramic view over the red rooftops and the sea.

Roman Theatre: A stunning ancient arena nestled right into the fabric of the modern city.

Canal Grande: The vibrant "Ponte Rosso" area, perfect for a coffee or an evening aperitivo by the water.

Synagogue of Trieste: Marvel at one of the most majestic Jewish temples on the continent; it is the second-largest synagogue in Europe and a symbol of our city’s multicultural and cosmopolitan soul.

Revoltella Museum: A world-class gallery of modern art that merges with the opulent historic residence of Baron Revoltella.

Risiera di San Sabba: A moving and essential site of memory—the only Nazi concentration camp with a crematorium in Italy.

Miramare Castle: The "fairytale" white castle of Maximilian of Habsburg, surrounded by a lush park overlooking the blue Adriatic.

Duino Castle: A breathtaking castle perched over the sea, still inhabited today and famous for hosting the poet Rilke. The "Rilke Trail" connecting it to Sistiana offers one of the most scenic coastal walks in the entire Adriatic.

Barcola and the Coastline: Join the locals for a stroll (or a swim!) along the Barcola pine forest. In the summer, the Triestine Coast offers breathtaking cliffs and crystal-clear waters.

Grotta Gigante: Descend into one of the world's largest tourist caves, a subterranean marvel of the Karst plateau.

Muggia: A charming Venetian-style fishing village, reachable via a scenic ferry ride across the bay.

...Let yourself be captivated by the charm of our city. I look forward to welcoming you!
